Arrival in Cape Town
We meet the night before the tour starts. Best is to arrive early morning, or a day or two before, to explore Cape Town (i.e. Table Mountain, Robben Island). Alternatively, extend your tour afterwards with a couple of days.
Cape Town to Cederberg
We travel inland towards Ceres via Bainskloof Pass and Mitchell’s Pass. Shortly after Ceres we hit the first dirt road and get a glimpse of the Tankwa Karoo, but then we turn west over Katbakkies Pass towards the Cederberg
Cederberg to Tankwa
We follow the back roads of the Cederberg all the way up to Wupperthal and then in the direction of Calvinia. The Tankwa unfolds as we approach the National Park from the north.
Tankwa to Sutherland
We explore the Tankwa National Park, go up Gannaga Pass where we take a break and a dip in the pool. Then down Ouberg Pass and Amandelnek Pass towards Sutherland. After dinner we enjoy a stargazing tour.
Sutherland to Prince Albert
We ride via Seweweekspoort to join the Route 62 in the Little Karoo shortly before Huis River Pass. We then follow the Groenfontein road towards Swartberg Pass, which we cross to get to Prince Albert (back in the Great Karoo again)
Prince Albert to Baviaanskloof
We travel east along the Swartberg Mountains. At Meiringspoort, we hit the gravel towards Willowmore, via Kredouw Pass. From there we travel into the Baviaanskloof.. say no more!
Baviaans to Tsitsikamma
In the morning we explore the wilderness side of the Baviaanskloof, take it easy, get a few nice pictures. A slightly shorter riding day, which leaves us some time to explore the Tsitsikamma area.
Tsitsikamma to Wilderness
We spend most of the morning in the beautiful Langkloof valley. At the end of the valley we travel towards Knysna via Prince Alfred's Pass, where we take the old Seven Passes road all the way to Wilderness.
Wilderness to Mosselbay
We go inland again, to Oudtshoorn, via Outeniqua Pass, where we say hi to the ostriches. We then come down to the coast again via Robinson Pass to arrive by lunchtime at our destination, a private game reserve. After lunch, safari time!
Mosselbay to Malgas
We follow the back roads to the Route 62. From Barrydale we travel via Tradouw Pass towards Buffeljags. After crossing the Breede River by a man-powered ferry, we arrive at our accommodation at Malgas.
Malgas to Cape Town
The Most Southern Tip of Africa is on the agenda for the day. From there we travel via the Hemel & Aarde valley. We hit the ocean again at Kleinmond to follow the famous coastal road towards Gordon’s Bay, all along False Bay, back to Cape Town.
